snowflake challenge 2026
Every January, the Snowflake Challenge runs on Dreamwidth. The premise is a month's worth of essay prompts relating to fandom. It's a good space for discussion and I've tried it before, but the problem is, I'm not a fandom person. But in 2026 I decided to have another ago with that in mind, and wrote about my own history of creativity on the internet instead - adoptables, roleplays, small worldbuilding communities now forgotten, and of course Petz (ok, maybe that last one's a fandom, but it's not your average shipping and fanfic space). The goal was to discuss these spaces and give them some room to shine outside of fandom's shadow.
